Carl is an author and the assistant director of the Charleston Museum in Charleston, South Carolina. 11:00 James Piecuch: “Battlefield Triumphs, Administrative Frustrations: Cornwallis Takes Command in the South”. Jim is an author and doctorial student at the College of William and Mary. 12:00 Todd Braisted: “American Provincials at the Battle of Camden”. Todd is an independent historian and nationally recognized expert on provincial loyalist troops in the American Revolution. 1:00-2:00 lunch on your own - (see your packet/reception desk for restaurant locations) Book Sales tables and Reception/Information Desk will be manned during breaks/lunch. 2:00 Bill Gordon: “Defeat as a School for Victory: American Commanders Confront Warfare in South Carolina, May-September 1780”. Bill is an author and professor of national security affairs at the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia. 3:00 Jay Callaham: “The British Regulars at Camden”. Jay is an independent historian, living history presenter and documentary film advisor. 4:00 James McIntyre: “The Continentals of Camden: Insurgent Peace-keepers?”. James is an adjunct instructor in history at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills, Illinois. 5:00 Symposium closes 7:00 – 9:00 Symposium Opening Reception and “groaning board” at the reconstructed Joseph Kershaw Mansion, which was commandeered as headquarters by Lord Charles Cornwallis in June 1780, located at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site.

Holly is an author on the Continental Army camp followers and professor of history at Dusquesne University. 11:00 John Maass: “Reluctant Rebels: Southern Militia Forces and the Camden Campaign, 1780”. John is an author on Gen. Gates at the Battle of Camden and PhD student at Ohio State. 12:00 Panel Discussion: “’Was there ever so precipitous a flight?’ Maj. Gen. Horatio Gates and the Disaster at Camden”.
